The concept for the ECODOBIE™ originated from a growing awareness of the global plastic waste problem, particularly after learning that only a small fraction of the plastic placed in recycling bins is actually recycled. Jim, one of our founders, recognized the potential for utilizing "trash plastic"—low-grade plastic waste that typically ends up in landfills or incinerators—in industrial applications. With experience in the construction industry, Jim saw an opportunity to address both the plastic waste crisis and the demand for sustainable building materials.
 
In collaboration with Carrie, who brought valuable experience in using the scientific method for problem-solving, the team embarked on months of research and development. They sourced various types of post-consumer, post-industrial, and post-agricultural plastic waste and conducted extensive testing on its physical properties, including compressive strength and thermal stability. The challenge was to create a material that not only repurposed trash plastic but also met stringent performance standards for construction materials.
 
After multiple iterations and material formulations, Jim and Carrie developed the ECODOBIE™, a construction product that is durable, lightweight, and environmentally friendly. It is designed to replace traditional concrete blocks and other materials used in non-structural applications. The ECODOBIE’S™ composition consists of a proprietary blend of mixed plastics that are processed and molded using advanced extrusion techniques, ensuring uniformity and strength.
 
With the success of ECODOBIE™, Earthwise Plastic Concepts was founded, with a mission to push the boundaries of recycled materials in construction and other industries. We are committed to turning waste into value and leading the way in sustainable innovation for a circular economy.
